What is Coaching?
When you hire a coach, you hire someone who works in partnership with you to help you achieve the life you want, both personally and professionally. A coach helps to clarify who you are, what you want, what's blocking you, and works with you to move you forward. Coaches help clients to come up with their own solutions and help to keep them motivated towards achieving great results. A coach is not a counselor in that the focus is not on the problem, but on the solution. Coaches also contribute their own expertise and knowledge around a variety of topics.
What do Parent Coaches do?
The transition to parenthood can be a difficult phase of life. Parents often struggle with many issues, including postpartum emotions, returning to work, decisions about childcare, the couple’s own relationship, relationships with extended family, and the general hassles of daily life. Despite the many joys of having a new child, these stresses can lead to feelings of being overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, or depressed. Caring for a baby or child can also call up positive and negative experiences that the parent had as a child with their own parents, which can in turn have an impact on the new parent-child relationship.
Our professional coaches are trained therapists with a particular interest in helping new and experienced parents cope with issues of parenthood. We have a special focus on supporting parents at all stages helping you to discover constructive ways to address situations that may be causing you concern, assisting you in identifying your goals, and helping you to design action steps to attain them. Our coaches will encourage you to discover and address stresses and challenges that may be impacting you and your children, helping you evaluate the systems you have in place that are already supportive and then guiding you to tap into them more efficiently.
