CPR- Child and Infant
The American Heart Association (AHA) Family & Friends® CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Certified Breastfeeding Educator (CBE) Training & Certification
This 20-hour three day course fulfills the UNICEF recommendations for those who work with mothers and babies. Based on the new 20 hour curriculum in support of the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this course was developed with support from the US Department of Health and Human Services for the US Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. This foundation course is perfect for doulas, childbirth educators and community workers in maternal child health and focuses on providing services to pregnant women to encourage the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding. The course discusses strategies for providing anticipatory guidance and support in order to prevent breastfeeding problems, to address barriers to breastfeeding, and to enable women to overcome any perceived or actual breastfeeding problems. Upon completion of course and post-test, attendees will receive certificate of Breastfeeding Counselor course completion, with applicable CEU’s.
Facilitator: Mirine Dye, MPH, CHES, IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, former Chair of the Breastfeeding Committee with the American Public Health Association, and a nationally certified health education specialist. She received training in the 20 Hour course curriculum from the UNICEF- USA designee in Denver, Colorado. Mirine has a background in doula work, home birth, birth center management and community education. She has worked with mothers and babies in Miami and Florida hospitals, clinics and health departments since 1997.

Birth Assistant Training (Level I & II)
The Advanced Doula/Birth Assistant Training is designed to give the doula, labor companion or registered nurse skills and knowledge to assist midwives with prenatal care, births, newborn and postpartum care at home and birth center settings. It will also assist registered nurses be able to offer Enhanced Labor Support (monitrice support) to women giving birth in hospitals. It is also intended to empower you to be an advocate for and community-educator about out of hospital birth and midwifery care. For those considering careers as a midwife, this course will give you basic skills and knowledge to begin or continue your journey to becoming a midwife. For those desiring to work as a Midwife Assistant, it will give you the basic skills needed which will increase likelihood of employment by a midwife working outside the hospital.
Facilitator: Hilary Gerber, MD, is a medical resident. After completing her current internship, she plans to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Her fellowship research focused on evidence based labor and delivery interventions. Before medical school, Hilary gave birth twice with the help of midwives, once in a hospital, and once at a free standing birth center. She would love to have a home birth if it didn't involve having another baby. HIlary trained as a direct entry midwife and has worked as a birth doula.

Lamaze Childbirth Educator Training
a one-day fast track seminar for midwives and student midwives
Lamaze International has been the leading provider of evidence-based education programs that prepare childbirth educators to teach with skill and confidence. Certification by Lamaze International is the most respected and recognized credential in childbirth education. In order to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), one must complete one of the three pathways and pass the exam. Lamaze International has established a “Fast-Track” for midwives and midwifery students to qualify to sit for the Lamaze Certification exam. This Fast Track requires attendance at an 8 hour workshop specifically designed for midwives.
Facilitator: Ann Tumblin, LCCE, FACCE, CD(DONA), has been teaching cbe for 30 years. She has led seminars and doula trainings throughout the world and frequently presents at international conferences such as Lamaze, DONA and ACNM.

Florida Outreach Childbirth Education Program (FOCEP) Training
Become a FOCEP Childbirth Educator
FOCEP, historically a Florida Department of Health program, is a training open to anyone interested in seeking training and certification as a childbirth educator. The goal of FOCEP is to provide individuals from a variety of backgrounds with a common knowledge base in pregnancy, childbirth, the newborn, postpartum period and parenting and to assist educators in identifying and using community resources available to childbearing families. No health care experience required, but 1 year experience is suggested. Additional requirements for certification must be completed within 1 year. All forms, materials and instructions provided at workshop. Please contact the facilitator ASAP to find out if you qualify. Limited enrollment of 10 participants.
Facilitator: Mirine Dye MPH, IBCLC, CHES, CCE has been a provider of FOCEP trainings since 1997 in both South and Central Florida. As one of the contributors to the curriculum, she is well versed in assisting those who wish to teach childbirth education to clients. Mirine is a lactation consultant, certified health education specialist and certified childbirth educator with a background in doula work, home birth, birth center management and community education.
